DriveWorks software is used for Design Automation and Sales Configuration by companies large and small. Whether you are an engineer that needs Design Automation to automate your SOLIDWORKS models, or a company wanting to provide a Product Configurator and Guided Selling for your sales teams, distributors and even customers, DriveWorks software is the ultimate choice for SOLIDWORKS.

There are 3 DriveWorks products – DriveWorksXpress, DriveWorks Solo and DriveWorks Pro, all of which are Gold Partner Productrs for use with SOLIDWORKS. In the last post I went through an example of DriveWorksXpress in a fictitious conveyor company AutoConveyors Ltd. – in how they could automate their SOLIDWORKS designs. Sometimes automating the design within the SOLIDWORKS window pane can be a little limiting in that only a workstation with SOLIDWORKS installed can drive the design. DriveWorks Pro takes the design automation cabability and adds to that the ability to deploy the DriveWorks user interface as a standalone software for use in a sales configuration environment.

Lets say now that AutoConveyor Ltd. want to develop a Sales Configurator for their sales team for use within the company. The DriveWorks champion within the company, most likely the SOLIDWORKS user who developed the project, can use the sales tool to guide non-technical staff through the custom options available, provide a fast response to sales enquiries and configure accurate quotes quickly and accurately.

DriveWorks Pro Conveyor

Just by adding a few simple dimensional details, the sales user can produce a quote document in a matter of seconds and send the drawings through to engineering to be produced on an acceptance of order. The outputs of which are as follows:

DriveWorks Conveyor Quote
Completed Conveyor w/ Spur in Hot Pink

This particular example was from the DriveWorks Pro essentials training & certification from the first two days of DriveWorks World. The example takes the DriveWorks Administrator through capturing the model, building the rules, developing the user interface and creating all the documents which are output from the system. While this was not specifically the training path set out for a sales configurator, it demonstrates how AutoConveyor Ltd. can create a simple yet effective way to link sales & engineering tasks in a user friendly environment.

All the best and keep climbing to that next level,

Elliot
